So you are planning that long-awaited trip to DisneyWorld, here is what you need to know. Disneyland and Disney World were founded by Walt Disney in 1955 and 1971, respectively. Disneyworld is one of the most visited vacation destinations in the world at 52 million people annually.
Disney World was built on a stretch of 25,000-acres in Florida. On the property, Disney built four theme parks, two water parks, 27 resort hotels, nine non-Disneys resort hotels, campground resort and entertainment venues, which includes Disney Springs.
With 52 million visitors annually and the massive resort area, which is by some estimates larger than San Francisco, transportation can be a major challenge. Disneyland met that challenge with from LAX to Disneyland, which is a network of services such as boats, buses, and shuttles that free to the customers. Disney World did the same, but a monorail was added as well. But sometimes, you want the comfort and convenience of a personal vehicle.
With the popularity of Uber and Lift, Disney World and Disneyland launched its version of Uber in 2017, which is called the Minnie Van. The Minnie Vans are private services. They operate like Lyft and Uber, except the cute vehicles are driven by Disney Cast Members nostalgic of Minnie Mouse. The Minivan can transport the passenger to and from the airport and almost any place on Disney property. Their daily schedule starts at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 a.m. The Minivan can hold up to 6 people have phone chargers and air condition, and they can hold up to 6 people, including three car seats.
How much does it cost?
Minivans are available at every Disney World hotel and to and from the Orlando International Airport (MCO). Airport service is open to customers for $150 flat fee per trip. However, the service is not available between midnight and 7 a.m.
The cost for Disney minivan service is a flat fee of $25 per ride plus an additional charge per mile. The per-mile price can range from $2.75 to $3.00. The average journey to the theme park from a resort is 6 to 8 miles, making the average cost $30 to $35 per trip. Some trips can be $40 or more.
The differences between Disney Minivan services and Lyft/Uber services?
The best cars for Uber are usually midsize cars, which are limited when it comes to room for passengers, luggage and if needed complimentary car seats. The minivans can hold up to six people and three car seats. The average cost of Lyft or Uber ride is around $10 or 15, which is significantly less than the minivan but you are getting a premium in the Disney-brand. The Minivan can save precious time at the parks by dropping visitors off at the front gate of the park. At the Magic Kingdom, the Lyft and Uber will drop visitors off at the ticket and transportation area. With the minivans, they are dropped off at the entrance.
